Keyed Up Events

I am the owner and lead planner for Keyed Up Events, a wedding and event planning company. We have been in business since 2013 and I currently have a full-time assistant, a part-time assistant and anywhere between 4-6 others who work the weddings and events with me and for me. In 2021 we also added rental decor to our services allowing us to be of even better service to our clients and other event professionals who rent from us.

I can’t name all the ways TCWEP has been a benefit to me and my business! Every meeting I either meet someone new and fabulous, reconnect with someone, or get the chance to give a shout out to someone that I have had a chance to work with. These connections are a vital part of my business that relies so much on referrals and good relationships!

TCWEP Peer-nominated Mountain Mover Award Finalist Lea Distad 2024

Lea Distad
Chef Jeff Catering

I have been with Chef Jeff Catering for two and a half years and I love working for this small but mighty team! I have been in the events industry for 20 years and I love helping people plan and execute special events. When I started at Chef Jeff Catering, they had a need for this focused and thorough attention on weddings and ever since, I have become the wedding expert! I am passionate about serving and supporting folks – I love hearing about our clients, their stories and what brought them together. I can help with menu planning, service questions, day-of coordination and more. I get excited by the details and seeing a plan come together!

I am a dual citizen, originally from Denmark, and I’ve lived in the United States for over 10 years. I share my life with my husband and our almost five-year-old, Bella and soon to be one-year-old Benjamin. They are a bundle of energy and joy and provide lots of practice in adapting and thinking on my feet! I have been delighted to join this team of folks at Chef Jeff Catering and I am honored and grateful to share time and space and life with them. This is truly an exceptional place to work and we are really excited about being of service to others on their important days.

I can’t wait to speak with you about your wedding or rehearsal dinner – I would love to get to know you and help you build the best day possible for you, your partner and your family and friends!

I am truly so happy to be apart of this wonderful group, full of truly amazing people who are all here to help and support one another! With the connections I have gained thought the TCWEP, I have colleagues in the industry that always are willing to assist if they can and the friendships I have made make me feel so very blessed! Coming to our monthly meetings is a highlight, meeting new friend’ors and catching up with familiar faces!

Rising Star Award

Driven, Up-and-Coming

Peer-Nominated Rising Star Award Finalists:

TCWEP Peer-nominated Rising Star Award Finalist Michelle Glanville 2024

Michelle Glanville
Custom Keepsake Drawings

Michelle Glanville created Custom Keepsake Drawings in 2018, creating handmade portraits of pets and homes. In late 2022, Michelle dove into the wedding scene by creating custom watercolor portraits of wedding bouquets as a means of floral preservation. This led to an exploration of wedding couples’ portraits – which is where her involvement in the wedding industry took off!

In September of 2023, Michelle, supported by her husband, family, and friends, quit her job to pursue her art business full time, and hasn’t looked back since.

Through her business, Custom Keepsake Drawings, Michelle operates as a Live Wedding and Event Painter, capturing the “you had to be there” moments of couples’ special days while providing entertainment for their guests. Michelle also paints and sketches guest portraits at events as personalized guest favors. Her commissioned portraits of couples, bouquets, venues, pets, and homes from photos are a fantastic alternative to live painting.

Michelle’s unique watercolor and ink style captures the detail, energy, and beauty of the moment. It truly brings Michelle joy to create artwork for others, and she is honored to paint keepsake pieces that hold so much meaning and love. Michelle is dedicated to bringing clients’ vision to life and creating a work of art that they’ll cherish for a lifetime.

Michelle lives in Minneapolis with her husband, son, and dog.

TCWEP has provided me with a community that encourages, supports, and uplifts me in my new, sometimes vulnerable, business endeavors. When I left my job to pursue my art business, I was very worried that I would feel alone and lost, but as my first TCWEP meeting came to a close, those fears were instantly lifted. The professionals that attend TCWEP have provided me with validation that I am in the right place, should continue pursuing my dreams, and that they are here, hustlin’ alongside me as I continue on.

Tammy Wittek

First and foremost a mom to two amazing young women, Lily (20) & Alicia (16). I love pineapples, road trips, and the hustle and bustle of a busy event season!

With a background in photojournalism and 14+ years of experience photographing couples, she tells the story of both the wedding day and the couple in a unique combination of candids, details, and portraits.

TCWEP has brought me out of my shell. It’s given me the confidence to network, collaborate, and run my business without the “imposter syndrome.” I feel like I continue to learn and grow both as an entrepreneur and as a wedding photographer.

TCWEP Peer-nominated Diamond Award Finalist Tami Johnson 2024

Tami Johnson
Studio B Floral Designs

Tami’s interactions with flowers & design began at an early age in Idaho where she watched her mother tending their flower gardens on the family farm. Tami even recalls getting scolded when she cut her mother’s flowers to make arrangements out of them.  Her business really got started in 2003, when Tami decided she would create the flowers for her own wedding. Never being one for doing things halfway, she took professional floral design courses and fell head-over-heels in love with everything about the floral business. Tami is much more than just a florist. She treats every wedding as her own! She limits the number of clients she takes on per week, in order to provide individual attention to each couple’s weddings. Couples love her calm demeanor, attention to detail, creative ideas and her expertise to pick the perfect flowers and decor for their weddings.

I am an introvert and find it hard to talk to new people, but TCWEP is a welcoming environment that has opened me up to the idea of Networking outside my comfort zone.  I have developed my networking skills because of this group.  TCWEP has been a great place to network to meet new people and connect in the Wedding Industry.  The group is a great resource for referrals for my business and to find great professionals to refer.  It can be lonely being a solo-preneur and it is great to have a group of like minded Wedding and Event Professionals to bounce ideas off of and to reach out to if I need something.  I look forward to our monthly meetings and seeing all of my “Friendors” that I have made through this group and making new connections, as well.

TCWEP Peer-nominated Diamond Award Finalist Jessica Knighton 2024

Jessica Knighton
Jessica Knighton Photography

Jess believes in providing an outstanding wedding day experience, in part by preparing her couples for the day, and in part by working with their team to pull off amazing, smooth, and seemingly effortless events! By being inclusive of all types of love, guiding her couples to have more sustainable events, and bringing the energy, she ensures that every couple feels special, and walks away with timeless images and art to cherish and pass down for generations!

TCWEP turns a seemingly competitive industry collaborative and brings life to an otherwise lonely work life as a small business owner. I value the relationships I’ve made the knowledge from around the wedding and event space, which in turn makes us all a little better at our jobs. TCWEP has been one of the biggest game-changers as a wedding photographer!

TCWEP Peer-nominated Wedding Warrior Award Finalist Tami Cabrera 2024

Tami Cabrera
Muddy Paws Cheesecake

After growing up in Chicago’s restaurant industry, Owner Tami Cabrera acquired a taste for a dessert synonymous with Chicago—cheesecake. After moving here in 1991, she found it impossible to find such cheesecake so she started her own business. Today, 31 Years Later, their St. Louis Park, MN based facility produces hundreds of Chicago style cheesecakes weekly. All of their cheesecakes are made from scratch in small batches daily with as many local ingredients as possible. They are known for their work in charity, giving back and community efforts. Tami and Muddy Paws Cheesecake have won over 170 awards, including Best in MN. For more information go to or email Tami

TCWEP has not only helped Muddy Paws Cheesecake grow its wedding business but it’s helped us develop meaningful relationships, that transcend beyond business. The TCWEP village is the BEST! ❤️ Tami

TCWEP Peer-nominated Diamond Award Finalist Reena Maheshwari 2024

Reena Maheshwari
Kahani Events & Design

My name is Reena Maheshwari, and I always knew Kahani would be part of my story. Starting Kahani had been on my mind for a number of years, as I saw a gap in the wedding & event market in the Minneapolis | St. Paul area with respect to culturally specific and multicultural events.

Planning events is something I’ve done with my family ever since I was a teenager. Graduation parties, birthday celebrations, weddings, and large scale community events – I planned it all throughout high school and college.   In college I completed a BS in Merchandising and Management, a Master’s in Education, and after a few different management experiences, ran and/co-owned a business in the design & construction industry for over a decade. Meanwhile I still helped with community events, weddings, art shows, and continued doing henna for many couples.  Listening to many of my friends about the lack of resources, decor, rentals, and planning services for multicultural weddings & events in Minnesota and nearby areas, I realized I needed and wanted to put my skills to use in helping bridge that gap.

I started Kahani Events & Design officially in 2019, and am now celebrating 5 years in this business!  I offer rentals, design, planning services, and henna for multicultural and/or South Asian couples. I also started Colorful Weddings – a vendor collective intended to highlight BIPOC and culturally specific businesses in the wedding industry.

TCWEP helped me make the connections that are so vital in this industry to success. From client referrals to business assistance – it is helpful to have a wedding community to draw on. I really value that I can both gain and provide  connections and resources through this group.

Epitome Papers

With a background in illustration and book arts, it is not surprising that I found myself telling couple’s stories through my design work with wedding stationery. I love seeing what ideas our clients come up with in our first meeting, and then the excitement they have when it all starts to come together into something beautiful. Growing long-lasting connections with our fellow vendors, partners, and local artists is also something I hold very close to my heart and business model.

I remember the very first time I attended a TCWEP meetup. It was at the Hutton House and a fellow wedding stationery, Josie of Ivory Isles invited me. I was SO nervous since I was just starting in the wedding industry. That quickly changed as TCWEP is one of the most warm, welcoming, and helpful vendor groups in Minnesota hands down. You can promote your business, and be yourself! I have met so many different vendors who have become long-time friends and we have strong professional partnerships with. This group is one of the best investments I make with my business each year as it pays itself hand over fist with the amount of work we receive from referrals.

TCWEP Peer-nominated Member of the Year Award Finalist Noe Sanchez 2024

Noe Sanchez
Viva La Fiesta DJ Entertainment

TCWEP has played a pivotal role in establishing a dedicated networking space for wedding industry professionals, and in my own experience, it has also fostered genuine friendships. One of the highlights of this journey is the opportunity to collaborate with friends, effortlessly blending camaraderie with our professional endeavors. Witnessing the remarkable growth, both personally and professionally, among myself and my colleagues has been incredibly fulfilling. This a testament to the supportive community and growth-oriented atmosphere that TCWEP cultivates.

TCWEP Peer-nominated Member of the Year Award Finalist Ryan Veil 2024

Ryan Veil
Studio Veil Wedding Services

We’re not a nationwide corporation or a big box company. It’s just us – a small team of people who will treat you like family. We don’t live way across the country. What we are is a team of local artists and professionals from right here in Minneapolis/St. Paul that believes in love and in doing our part to help celebrations of love. Our goal is to make it easier for couples to celebrate their love by providing multiple high-quality wedding services from one powerhouse team.

Stay Humble,Hustle Hard

(The Unofficial Motto Of Our Multi-talented Team)

Here’s the thing about us: We’re here to help. We’ve talked brides down from ledges, helped caterers break down tables, and pinned boutonnieres onto tuxedos. We’ll laugh, bring the fun, and always keep our heads even when something goes wrong. At Studio Veil, we think of ourselves as ducks on water. We may be crazy kicking underneath to keep things rolling smoothly, but above the water, we’ll always stay calm and collected.

Weddings are our where we got our start but we also work with dozens of corporate clients and other private celebrations every year. We bring that same level of service and professionalism to every event we have the privilege of partnering with.

TCWEP has provided a peer group. Friends. Support. Sense of belonging…when you are an entrepreneur, many of your interactions are with clients alone. It’s easy to feel like you’re on an island by yourself, going through the day-to-day tasks, just waiting till you get to see other people again when working events. TCWEP provides a group of like-minded people that are doing the same thing. It’s great to have others to share, or commiserate, with. We share stories. We break bread together. On the business side, we WORK together. We are all on the same team which is the team that takes care of events in the twin cities so we may as well refer each other and work with people we know, like, and trust. It makes our work environment more enjoyable for us and I would argue that it makes for a better experience and end product for our clients as well. When I first started at TCWEP, I admit I struggled with feeling awkward pressure because of all the “competition” in the room. I’m happy that over time, that feeling as dissipated and instead I feel welcomed, a sense of belonging, and that I’m walking into a group of friends on the 2nd Wed of the month.
