Super great dual event held at Hennepin Theatre Trust, Downtown …
2019 marks the ten year anniversary of TCWEP.
See what happens when TCWEP holds our monthly event around Twin Cities venues, bringing in sponsors and volunteers to make the location and talent involved really shine. From catered food to decor that knocks-your-socks-off.
Crowne Plaza AiRE
3 Appletree Square
Bloomington, MN 55425
Location, location, location! Just minutes from the Minneapolis/St. Paul Airports and literally right on the Twin Cities Blue Line light rail system by the Mall of America; and as if that’s not enough they have their own stacked parking lot with ample parking for all your automobiles. A wonderful place.
This month we were WOWed with the potential to turn a hotel ballroom into a BEAUTIFUL wedding venue! Maggie and her staff from the Crowne Plaza AiRE was so kind and welcoming, and all of our volunteer sponsors did such a great job with the decorations and food.
The food was served by Crown Plaza AiRE’s own catering team and dessert from Nothing Bundt Cakes Minnetonka. Believe me when I say it was DELICIOUS.
Table Discussion: To commemorate TCWEP celebrating 10 years of Event Industry Networking; Discussion: Where were you in your business 10 years ago?
Here are some discussion that was at my table:
“10 years ago I was just finishing up college and working for Savvi Formalwear, so that was kind of my entrance in to the wedding industry, getting to help brides and grooms with their wedding attire. I graduated from school with a retail marketing and management degree and ended up going a corporate route but always had something side hustle-y in events. I couldn’t get weddings off my mind so two years ago I decided to launch Aveiled!”
– Lexie, Availed Wedding & Event Planning
“10 years ago I was working full time in a bridal shop. My mom owned a bridal shop for 25 years and I literally grew up on the floor of that shop since I was 5. I worked with brides full time selling dresses on a sales floor for at least 6 years and I also owned another company at the time in the modeling and pageant world. We taught models and contestants how to prepare for those industries in safe and healthy ways.”
– Ashley, VP of Forever Bride
“10 years ago I was a Corporate America girl. I had worked my way up the ladder at a corporate recruiting organization that supported medical manufacturers around the Twin Cities and western Wisconsin. Some stuff happened at the top and I had just decided I was done and I went back to school and started my own business, so here I am two years later!”
– Amy, Multi Media Makeup Artist

Best Networking Tips to Engage Your Business
- Partnership – Buddy system; Show Up, Find Events that you can be present at; share info with each other; find someone to go with to open houses, attend networking events, et.
- Remember Seven Points of Contact; 1st time meeting a person is to get to know about them.
- Forgot person’s name – Okay to call yourself out if you don’t remember their name; be honest;
- Two questions should always ask: How can I help you? Who are good referrals to send your way? Who do you know that would be good for me to meet with? Expand our networks.
- Be more interested in the other person, than you are interested in telling about yourself.
- Open Houses – Have a Brand Ambassador; wing people to talk about your business
- Build relationships with people; don’t try to sell something
- Prepare, go into networking events with a plan; make genuine connections; get 3 business cards from people; have 3 conversations with new contacts.
